About the Beckwith Leadership Academy

The inaugural Beckwith Leadership Academy was held during the winter of 2021 and consisted of 20 Beckwith Fellows who were hand-selected by our 34th District Representative Osuman O. Issaka, who conceived the idea of the academy as a mechanism to cultivate and train future district leaders.

This year’s leadership academy is building on that foundation with sessions that will include the foundations of fraternal leadership, officer roles, responsibilities and expectations, brotherly relations, basic parliamentary procedures, Omega history, personal growth and professional development, mental health awareness, Omega protocol and understanding Omega's governing documents.

The faculty of the Leadership Academy is composed of former Eighth District representatives, current and former Eighth District officers, other former district representatives from throughout the Fraternity, international committee chairmen, and various subject matter experts.

Dr. Lynn Beckwith Jr.: The epitome of servant leadership

The decision to name the Leadership Academy in honor of Dr. Lynn Beckwith was not a mere formality but a far more serious transaction.

As our 16th District Representative, Dr. Beckwith represents a living embodiment of true Omega leadership and the precepts of Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift. He is the epitome of a servant leader.

Since his initiation into the Fraternity on May 10, 1958, through the Omicron Sigma Chapter in St. Louis, Dr. Beckwith's service to Omega, the Eighth District, and the St. Louis community is voluminous, illustrious, and indelible. Without reservation, Dr. Beckwith is an Omega icon, a man of distinction whose sterling example of grace and service is truly one to be emulated.

If you have any questions, please email or call me at the phone number listed below.

Fraternally,

Glenn E. Rice
