8th District Conflict Resolution Committee "Alive and Free" Discussion

Dear Brothers,

We are excited to invite you to a compelling session led by Brother Dr. Joseph E. Marshall, Jr., a distinguished member of our fraternity (Spring 1967, Xi Gamma), as part of the 8th District Conflict Resolution Committee's initiative. This event features an "Alive and Free" discussion, focusing on how we can emerge as influential leaders in mitigating conflict.

Brother Marshall's illustrious career encompasses roles as an author, lecturer, radio talk show host, and fervent community activist. He is the visionary founder of Alive & Free, a globally recognized violence prevention organization based in San Francisco. Under his leadership, the organization, originally established in 1987 as Omega Boys Club, has profoundly impacted countless lives. Through its scholarship fund, Alive & Free has proudly supported 268 college graduates, with an additional 50 members currently pursuing higher education. Over 70 alumni have advanced to earn graduate degrees, showcasing the organization's commitment to fostering educational achievement.

Dr. Marshall's expertise is not limited to his organizational work. He is also known as the host of the influential violence prevention radio talk show, "Street Soldiers." His academic credentials are equally impressive, with a B.A. from the University of San Francisco, an M.A. in Education from San Francisco State University, and a Ph.D. in Psychology from the Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA. He has been honored with honorary doctorates from Morehouse College and the University of San Francisco, further testament to his outstanding contributions.

This session offers an invaluable opportunity for us to learn from a renowned thought leader and to engage in meaningful dialogue about reducing conflict in our communities. We strongly encourage your participation in what promises to be an enlightening and transformative experience.
